The Awkwardly Early Girl

When I was a kid I remember getting our first computer. I would spend hours each week building (super, super basic) websites that proudly displayed my name, hobbies, favorite colors, and pretty pictures of ponies.

Despite my love for building these little websites, I decided it would be a good idea to pursue a degree in Psychology after graduating high school… so I did. But after finishing school, found myself working as the social media manager for a tech/startup publication here in town.

Now, for someone who’s knee-deep in the Atlanta tech and startup scene, I knew next to nothing about programming. Despite having worked for a one-woman dev shop in Virginia Highlands and frequently interacting with developers, my knowledge of coding was super minimal. I wanted to learn more, maybe to even make a career out of it, but wasn’t super sure where to start. Not until I met the lovely folks here at Tech Talent South!

After months of back and forth, trying to decide whether or not to enroll in one of the courses, I did it. I submitted my information, interviewed, and enrolled in the Full Time immersion program! And, I was eager for classes to get started… so eager that I showed up to the first day of class one week and forty-five minutes early (oops).

Here we are, almost through with week three of class, and I love every second of it! The full time immersion program has definitely been challenging, but worth it. Not only are we being equipped with coding skills necessary to succeed, we’re being introduced to resources that will help us “make it” in the real world. From a comprehensive list of meet ups, to guest speakers and company tours, Tech Talent South goes above and beyond to equip you with everything you need to succeed.

If you are a student/graduate, congratulations! I have no doubt that you’re doing <BIG>SOMETHING</BIG>. If you’re like I was and still trying to decide whether or not to dive it…. JUST DO IT. You definitely won’t regret it.
