After graduating in May of 2013 with two bachelor’s degrees in Information Technology and Marketing, I had a four month internship that led to a full-time job with a small defense contracting company. I knew this wasn’t the career I was looking for but I stayed with it to build up those magical years-of-experience that all employers look for. After two years I was stuck at the same job with no chance to advance my career and was desperately searching for a way out. I knew I needed a fresh start but wasn’t sure where to turn.
I spent most of my days at work job hunting until I stumbled upon an article about “programming boot camps” and how they are popping up everywhere around the country. While I had done some Java, .NET, and VBA coding in college, that wasn’t enough to be able to make a career out of it. That’s when I applied to Tech Talent South. I decided to take the leap by leaving my job and moving down to Raleigh.
I immediately found Tech Talent South to be more than just a school. It was a collection of resources designed to help you find the career you want while enjoying life in and outside of class. Along with the incredible in-class learning, Tech Talent South provides guest speakers, tours of local start-up companies, networking opportunities, and so much more! We are only five weeks into class but I can confidently say I made the right decision with Tech Talent South.
