3 KIDS, A MAC AND A FULL TIME JOB

I have been thinking really hard about what I want my blog post to be. I wanted to be crafty and when you finished reading this, you’d be thinking “Man, that Shane guy knows his stuff!” I don’t think that’s the ending we will get here, but I can guarantee I know 150% more now than I did a couple months ago and wouldn’t change it for the world.

I am a father of three with a very challenging full time job that takes most of my time away from home. I want to make sure that those of you reading this that maybe feel you can’t make it work — I promise there is a way. You just have to WANT to make it work. I come from a solid background of wireless technology. I even went to a local Computer Networking Tech school here in Charlotte out of high school. I know now that the reason I even went to that school was because I wanted to learn what I’m learning at TTS. 12 years later and I finally found what I was looking for 🙂

After reading all the blog posts and talking to some alums at TTS, I realized that this is something I absolutely had to do. With my first phone calls I knew immediately that TTS was focused on making sure the students were #1. You feel at home even though you know you are stepping into a strange, new world of technology. I have always been a nerd in my own right. I subscribe to just about every tech site that exists but I realized I barely scratched the surface while attending TTS.

We were given the tools to create and manage an app literally on the first day! I remember the last words spoken at the end of our first 3 hour session. “Congratulations you are now a full stack developer.” Unreal!

I had a lot of “AHA!” moments but the most important part of my journey was realizing this wasn’t just something I wanted to learn to help me in my other ventures it was something I wanted to do full time as a career.

Whether its Ruby, Ruby on Rails, HTML, CSS or even some Javascript – You will get a feel for it all and it will help you find your inner nerd and point you in the right direction. I have to say being part of the TTS family has its perks and I look forward to being a part of it as long as I can.

I’m open to talk to anyone interested in hearing more and love helping other people, so please don’t be afraid to reach out.
